Alla fine del match tra Olanda e Gibilterra, chiusosi con un 3-0 molto stretto agli Orange vista la mole incredibile di occasione avute e non sfruttate, un giornalista olandese ha voluto provocare Weghorst. L’attaccante del Manchester United non ha infatti trovato mai la porta: “Wout, se la partita fosse durata 48 ore, avresti segnato?” la domanda del giornalista. Questa la riposta invece del calciatore: “Bella domanda. Almeno avrei avuto più tempo, ma ho fatto del mio meglio”.
